Postgraduate Training with Smart Bowen UK
The aim of Smart Bowen® postgraduate training is to provide therapists with additional tools. We do not want to replace or question what you have already learned, simply add to it.
Our approach starts from the observation that most Bowen moves are done on, or very close to, myofascial trigger points or significant acupuncture points. Brian Smart, (pictured) the founder of Smart Bowen®, used this insight to develop a whole suite of moves and procedures which more closely address these points, including many that are entirely new. The result: our Bowen work is more effective and clients respond more quickly and more deeply.
An additional benefit is that, with Smart Bowen®, therapists can use the theoretical perspectives of trigger point therapy and acupuncture to better understand clients’ problems and how Bowen might help to resolve them. This helps us to answer the key clinical questions “Where should I start with this client?” "How do I know what I'm doing is working?" and “What should I do next?” With Smart Bowen® you will be able to identify which muscles and soft tissue you need to influence and why.

About Our
|
Smart Bowen® postgraduate workshops are held throughout the UK, typically over a weekend. Most courses are arranged in response to local demand, with our instructors travelling to workshop locations convenient to those attending. This means that the majority of our students save on travel and accommodation costs.
Our postgraduate workshops are run along lines which will be familiar to most practitioners. Key concepts are introduced and explained, moves are demonstrated and then students are given ample time to practise the procedures. Group sizes are small - no more than 10 students as a rule - in order to ensure that everyone receives adequate individual attention. All our instructors hold adult teaching qualifications. We provide comprehensive learning notes so that students don’t have to do a lot of writing while new material is being presented. The actual manual for all of our courses is “Smart Bowen Therapy: The Practitioner’s Guide”, a full colour publication of more than 200 pages written by Brian Smart which covers nearly all of his work. There is a one-off charge for this book for new students. All Smart Bowen® postgraduate courses are recognised for CPD by the main professional associations, the Bowen Therapists Professional Asssociation (BTPA) and the Bowen Theapists Associaton UK (BAUK)*. |
